Motion Sickness Prevention Tips

Motion sickness affects many individuals, and none of them enjoy the experience. The problem increases with age, but a few simple steps can help someone avoid the problem entirely. An easy way for a sufferer to avoid becoming nauseated is to watch the foods he or she eats before the trip begins.

Food sensitivities may make it more likely for someone with nausea to have increased difficulty with traveling. Avoiding these foods several hours before the trip can avoid the worst part of nausea. No one enjoys bringing these foods back up. Unless the person travels in a motor home, they are unlikely to have access to toilet facilities.

Sitting in the direction of travel also lessens motion sickness. For people who have a more severe problem, an over-the-counter medication can help alleviate the symptoms. Extreme cases may require a doctor’s intervention. This intervention usually comes in the form of a patch that is worn behind the ear.
